From Filipe Isidoro (phil.z@nospam.usa.net) Tue Jan 20 15:03:57 1998 Hi, Some of you, specially Leon, might remember I posted some questions regarding the installation of a lights-on-reminder in my '91RED, some months ago. It was summer then, I tried to install the buzzer and it didn't work, but it wasn't really very important. Now it's winter, and it's been a rather wet winter, so I decided to give it a new try. My approach now was different: I changed my radio, and realized that much of the "wires" I needed were already connected to the radio: I got the +12V after ignition from the wire that disconnects the radio when the ignition key is out of "ignition" or "accessories". Then I got the light on +12V from some console lights (it could be the "chaufage" illumination, but it was from the analogue-clock (not stock)). I think this way it might be much easier (although I'm not sure whether the +12V after ignition is available in every radio). .....then I did something more: I didn't like very much the idea of having the buzzer on, when the engine is off and I want the lights on for some reason (like for visibility reasons).... so, I think it makes sense to have the buzzer only "buzzing" when the door is opened! This can easily done, if you get +12V from the cockpit light (the contact in this light that has +12V _only_ when the door is open), and ground from, for example the radio, and use these wires to activate a relay, which closes the normal "lights-on-reminder" circuit, when the door is opened. hope this might be useful. phil
