i found the suction cups specifically for holding lights at Lowe's. Pack of
20 is $2.97. they hold the light itself and not the wire which is where the
weight is . if you are using suction cups it's best that the car is washed
before hand to get a good clean surface to stick the suction cups on. (my
car desperately needs a washin')

i've played around with magnets as well with little clips adhered to them.
these work good as well although the lower portion of my car as well as the
hood is fiberglass and the magnets don't hold to those spots (i've got a
2000).

although the magnets would hold longer, more resistant to temperature and
moisture changes, and be more hefty, the suction cups maybe the best bet for
the parade since we won't be going that fast and they are cheaper than
magnets and stick to more places on the car.
