Hey Ron! If you only plan to do autocrossing, a Snell M95 rated helmet will be fine for you. If you plan to step up to track day time trials or even club racing (I hope go club racing), you WILL need a Snell SA95 rated helmet. As for what type of helmet to get (open or closed face), an open faced helmet is allowed for autocross but any type of track day driving will require a closed face helmet. After that, it's all about picking the helmet that is the cheapest and looks cool! :)
